Like Jungle Tiger, the Silver Snow Leopard is also an experiment in medium. I like the luminosity of watercolor, the solidness of acrylic, and the ability to add detail with colored pencil. I had several successful pieces with these three mediums combined. So when I was offered permission to draw from the photograph of an independent photographer, I planned this piece with these three mediums in mind. The background was done in watercolor. I like the way the splotches of watercolor dried leaving an interesting texture. Watercolor is also great for texturing rocks so I used this medium for the foreground as well. Acrylic was used for the snow leopard and colored pencil was used to add detail of the eyes and fur.
