I have spent years studying the ocean. I have done the ocean in various mediums including watercolor, acrylic, and pastel. I have studied the colors of the waves during all times of the day including sunrise, morning, afternoon, evening, and sunset. I still have not perfected the techniques of drawing the ocean, but I have done some nice pieces. This particular piece was inspired from a scene from Lincoln City, Oregon where an outcropping of rocks with trees jutted out into the ocean. The sun hit the ocean waves in such a way that the top of the waves had a hind of green color. It was drawn with pastels and Nupastels on Strathmore pastel paper.
