The horse in this picture was drawn for commission. I was given three photos from my aunt who had contact with someone that wanted these photos artistically depicted. I unfortunately never met the owner of the horses nor the horses themselves since they lived in Oregon and I was in Texas at the time. But the photos were good enough to draw from so I went eagerly to work. The three art pieces from the three photos are “Free to Roam”, “Portrait of Indy”, and “Greetings”. Each was in a different style and medium and all came out well. These were the first horses I had drawn as professionally finished pieces and it was the beginning of my love for drawing horses. Portrait of Indy was done in Prismacolor colored pencil on Strathmore pastel paper.
